A look back on summer…

Summer went by fast… almost in a haze.
It began amidst lock down. It began with us getting used to what looked like the new norm.
Time went by fast & slow at the same time.

Time went by worrying about parents & family back in India.
Time went by worrying about scheduling grocery pickups & sanitizing every thing that entered the house.
Time went by explaining to my daughter why it wasn’t safe to go out while still reassuring her that this is all just temporary.

And somewhere in between all that chaos, we realized that we are able to eat all our meals together at home.
All the time spent driving in traffic is now available for family walks.
Tea breaks with colleagues is now mushroom & wild berry spotting time with my daughter!!

But try however much & throw things it’s way, summer seemed to have it’s own way of
ushering in beauty & joy. It brought with it simple moments to relish in a time when we couldn’t ask for more.

What would summer be without baskets full of fresh colorful fruits & vases full of fresh cut flowers straight from the garden…

And, what would be summer be without all the fresh, new growth in our plants. My beloved 6 year old fiddle leaf fig hit the ceiling!! This was probably the biggest highlight of the last few months! If you follow me on Instagram, you would have seen my post asking suggestions & the overwhelming response was to cut the top off to propagate. While that is the logical thing to do, I am freaking out at the thought of doing it. I will keep y’all posted on when that happens 🙂

So much new growth that I have been doing some plant propagation which I have always wanted to do, but never end up actually doing.

And, what would summer be without some alfresco dining? We, as a family love to eat out but given the current situation, it has been mostly home cooked meals & we sneaked in several picnic lunches & evening teas in the backyard before the mosquito season descended on us.

& not to forget the lounging & siestas under the sun after dessert!!
lots of baking..
& high teas…
& oh! are summers even complete without popsicles?
& the undeniable beauty of summer sunsets & joy of spotting fireflies after…

Though seemingly small in the eye of the current events, but what would life be, if not for these?!

Do share your favorite summer moments in the comments & what you are looking forward to in fall!
