As I am writing this, I am still in denial that I have completed my very first interior design project! This is a basement remodeled to be a 1 BHK apartment. The unit was planned to be rented out, so there was no furnishings involved. All the furniture & décor you see are what I took in for a mini photoshoot.
Even though it was going to be rented out, the owners wanted fun patterns & colors and I was more than happy to incorporate them throughout.
First is the entryway/mudroom which could also be converted to an office area as it is a small apartment. If you have know me, green is the first color I would go to! For this entryway area, we chose a mint color and painted it in a cross pattern to generate interest as soon as someone walks in. Green is a very welcoming color & also a good choice to calm you down when you come back home after a long day.
Kitchen was the area I had the most fun with! It is a white kitchen with black countertops. The tiles in the kitchen floor are set in a herringbone pattern. The backsplash is regular subway tiles but they are set in a weave pattern for more visual interest.
Last but not the least, the blue shower, also set in a herringbone pattern. It is a very small bathroom & this shower area packs in a punch of life & vibrancy!
That’s it folks! I had too much fun designing this basement remodel project & learned a whole lot of new things. I would love to hear your thoughts & comments.
